Everything You Need To Know About Yoga at Red Rocks

Yoga on the Rocks at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO is an experience you won’t find anywhere else. Rise with the sun and do something good for your body, surrounded by some of the most unique rock formations in the state. This is a ticketed event that occurs every Saturday morning from June through August, beginning promptly at 7:00am until 8:00am. Don’t miss out on this summer bucket list item when in Denver.

Ticket Options & Pricing

As of 2024, there are three purchasing options available for Yoga on the Rocks:

  • $19 - one session

  • $85 - 5 ticket pack

  • $160 - season pass

Purchase tickets in advance and don’t wait until the last minute like I did. I ended up purchasing tickets a few days before the event and ended up buying a resale ticket for $45.

Where to Park

I would recommend parking at the parking lot closest to the amphitheater at the upper lot off of W Alameda Pkwy, the lot just after the tunnel. I parked at the lower north lot, since the upper lot was full by the time I arrived at 6:40am. If you park here, be aware that it’s at least a 5 minute walk to the amphitheater entrance.

When to Get There

I would recommend arriving at least 20 minutes before the session starts. You’ll need to take into account slow moving traffic in the park. Once you park, depending on which lot you are in, it may be a 5-10 minute walk to the amphitheater. Spots fill up pretty quickly. If you’re going with a larger group, it may be difficult to all sit together if you’re running behind schedule. In summary, get there early. I intended on getting there at 6:40am, but didn’t sit down until 6:50am due to heavy traffic on the way in.

My Experience & Review

The event lasted one hour, starting promptly at 7am. This session was hosted by Buffalo + Sparrow Yoga Collective who did a great job at leading a culturally sensitive practice. The instructor was bilingual and led the session in both English and Spanish.

As someone who has done yoga before, I thought this class was perfect. I found most of the poses to be easy for an audience with varying abilities. It was a well balanced blend of stretching and engaging the core muscles.

However, I thought it was slightly above beginner level, since the instructor didn’t explain the names of the poses, it was assumed that you knew what they were. Someone who has never practiced yoga before may have a hard time following along.

There are screens that project the instructor and other staff on the stage so you can still see what’s going on if you’re in the back rows. There are also some instructors along the edge which was helpful as well. Overall, this was a positive experience and I would do it again.

Hike the Trading Post Trail Afterwards

If you’re feeling up to it after your morning stretch, I’d recommend hiking the Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks since you’re already there. The trailhead is walking distance from the amphitheater so no need to get back into your car.

The trail is an easy, flat loop that is 1.6 miles and takes about 50 minutes to complete. On this trail you’ll have the opportunity to see more of the natural beauty that lies within Red Rocks Park.
