The Ultimate Guide to Coffee Shops in Golden, CO
Corvus Coffee, Arvada
For a small town, the coffee shop scene in Golden, Colorado is on point! Throughout this old western town, you fan find local roasteries, gourmet lattes, and delicious brewed coffee at almost every corner. This guide will help you find exactly what you’re looking for, whether it be a cute date spot, I nice cafe to work remotely, or simply to just drink some delicious coffee.
Best Coffee Shops for Lattes
Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something about a rich, flavorful latte that hits the spot, especially when it’s brimming with sweet, sugary goodness. The warmth of a comforting latte on a crisp autumn day is truly unbeatable. But what I really love are the coffee shops that go the extra mile, offering creative and unique flavor combinations beyond the usual vanilla, hazelnut, and mocha. In downtown Golden, two local spots always surprise me with fun, seasonal lattes that rotate throughout the year, adding something special to every visit.
Cafe 13 is one of my favorite coffee shops for a variety of reasons. First, I love it’s location, tucked away off the busy main street inside of a historic armory building, with a beautiful outdoor patio. Secondly, their lattes are so much fun! I recently ordered the chocolate covered cherry latte and it was AMAZING. Aside from their delicious lattes, they have a huge selection of freshly baked goods and bread that are equally savory. I usually can’t visit without buying a croissant. You can also order outside at the window, if your ordering to go. It’s also a dog friendly option for pet owners who can’t take their dog inside.
This next cafe has been in Golden for 18 years and truly captures the rustic, western charm of this little Colorado mountain town. The Windy Saddle Cafe rests in the heart of downtown Golden and offers delicious drinks as well as some healthy breakfast and lunch options. It’s the perfect place to meet up with a friend over brunch and some coffee, tea, and baked goods. Some popular lattes include the Rocky Mountain High, Gold Digger, and Honey Bucky Badger. Which one are you going to try?
Best Coffee Shops for Quality, Black Coffee
I like my lattes, but sometimes I’m in the mood for some plain ol’ freshly brewed black coffee. It’s such a simple thing, but so many places get it wrong by using stale beans, inaccurate water to coffee ratios, or use poor quality grounds. Fortunately, there are two places in Golden that roast their own beans, it’s guaranteed their brewed coffee is always going to taste fresh. So if you’re looking for a simple cup of joe, look no further than Pangea and Red Silo.
Pangea would be my first recommendation if you’re looking for a smooth, fresh black cup of coffee. All of their beans are freshly roasted and you can definitely taste it. In fact, my partner and I purchase their beans for making our own coffee at home, because it’s that good. Just to note, they are window service only and do not have indoor seating. They also are not open on the weekend, so plan accordingly.
Next up on the list for best coffee in Golden is Red Silo Coffee Roasters, located in the heart of downtown off of Washington Ave. This sleek, minimalist shop is a great alternative to Pangea, since it also has delicious coffee, but has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well. Since they roast their own beans, the coffee at Red Silo has crisp, smooth flavor that doesn’t leave a stale taste in your mouth like other places.
Best Coffee Shops for Remote Work
If you’re a remote worker, sometimes it’s nice to get out of the home office for a while and settle in at a local coffee shop for the day. But not all cafes are telework friendly - limited seating options, little privacy, or no outlets for charging laptops. I’ve done the work for you and found two coffee shops in Golden that are perfect for remote workers or students who are looking for a place to study.
The first place I’d recommend for remote workers in Bean Fosters. Not only is it a coffee shop, but also a used book store. It kind of feels like a library to me, creating a more studious environment where it’s easier to focus. There are plenty of seating options - wide tables, book nooks, and even a bar by the window which is perfect for guests working alone. There are plenty of outlets along the wall, so be sure to snag one of those seats if you plan on charging your laptop or phone throughout the day.
Another great place to telework or study at is Launch. It’s incredibly spacious with plenty of outlets and seating. Their coffee and food is great, and I absolutely love the industrial vibes and tall ceilings. Not to mention, they also have cocktails available, so you can grab a drink when 5 o’clock hits (or sooner, I won’t judge). There’s also plenty of parking, so you don’t have to worry about wasting time trying to find a spot.
Coffee Shops with the Best Aesthetic
Listen, sometimes it’s less about the coffee and more about the vibe, I totally get it. Although both of these places in Golden are more than just looks, they have great coffee too! If you’re looking for a cute date spot or a place to meet up with friends for some good conversation, be sure to check out these gems.
The Humble House Cafe in Golden, Colorado wins for best aesthetic by far. If you love earthy, vibrant, boho decor, you will love this little coffee shop. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, and you could stay here for hours chatting with friends or a date. This is another great spot to try some unique lattes since they always have some specialty drinks on the menu. Keep in mind, this shop is very popular and seating is limited. Get there early on the weekend or visit during less busy hours during the week.
This is definitely a hidden gem in Golden, since it’s not located in downtown, but rather tucked away off of S. Golden Rd. This is such a unique shop, that not only creates quality espresso beverages, but also sells skateboards and related gear. It’s a super hip spot with edgy design and decor. Since the parking lot in front of the store is quite small, you can find additional parking here: 16225 S. Golden Rd.
